The United States Postal Service (USPS) has declared the release of a new Forever stamp dedicated to Henry “Hank” Aaron, a renowned figure in the world of baseball. This stamp is a tribute to Aaron’s exceptional life and accomplishments, highlighting his journey from modest beginnings to becoming a celebrated athlete who faced and overcame racism throughout his career. Aaron, who played primarily for the Atlanta Braves, is remembered for his achievements on the baseball field, including breaking the record for the most home runs.

The design of the stamp is a digital painting that captures Aaron in his iconic right-handed batting stance. This artwork is intended to represent Aaron’s significant contributions to the sport and his enduring legacy. Additionally, the selvage area of the stamp sheet features another digital painting that depicts Aaron watching the trajectory of the ball after hitting his record-setting 715th home run on April 8, 1974.

Greg Breeding served as the art director for this project, collaborating with artist Chuck Styles to bring the commemorative stamp to fruition. The stamp will be available in panes of 20. Designed as a Forever stamp, it will hold its value equivalent to the current First-Class Mail 1-ounce price, irrespective of future postal rate changes.

The USPS will disclose the official first day of issue and the details of the stamp dedication ceremony at a forthcoming date.
