Sharpie, a subsidiary of Newell Brands, has launched the Sharpie Bus, a mobile creativity hub, to traverse the United States. This initiative aligns with the celebration of World Creativity and Innovation Day and marks the 60th anniversary of the Sharpie brand. The bus tour, dubbed “The World Is Your Canvas,” aims to inspire and encourage Americans to engage in creative activities using Sharpie’s new Creative Markers.
The decision to create the Sharpie Bus was influenced by a brand survey revealing that 62% of Americans feel their biggest obstacle to creativity is a lack of confidence and 50% are unsure of how to start being creative. In response, Sharpie has equipped the bus with various creative tools and will make stops at major festivals and events nationwide to demonstrate that creativity can be expressed on numerous surfaces using the right tools.
Gina Lázaro, Vice President of Brand Management at Newell Brands, emphasized that the tour is a part of Sharpie’s commitment to fostering self-expression. The bus will provide opportunities for visitors to experiment with the new markers on diverse materials such as paper, wood, metal, and more, showcasing their versatility.
The tour will start at the Main Street Arts Festival in Fort Worth, Texas, and will include stops at significant events like the Gov Ball Music Fest in New York and Art Basel in Miami. At each stop, attendees can use the new Creative Markers and take samples home, enhancing ongoing creative pursuits. The markers are distinguished by their no-bleed ink, available in 12 colors, and are designed for smooth application akin to paint but with the convenience of a marker.
For further information on tour dates and locations, interested individuals can visit Sharpie’s website. The Sharpie Creative Markers are also available for purchase at major retailers like Amazon, Target, and Walmart, with prices ranging from $4 to $20.
