HOKA, a division of Deckers Brands, recently unveiled the Skyward X, a new model in its line of performance running shoes known for their extensive cushioning. This launch introduces enhanced features aimed at providing a unique running experience that embodies the distinctive cushioning associated with the HOKA brand.
The Skyward X was developed to enhance softness and smoothness during runs, specifically targeting comfort for longer distances. The shoe integrates HOKA’s core design principles with a new carbon fiber plate system. This innovation offers a blend of responsiveness, cushioning, and stability, purportedly simplifying the running process for athletes.
Key advancements in the Skyward X include the use of an overstuffed combination of plush foams for superior cushioning. PEBA foam near the foot and a firmer super-critical EVA foam nearer the ground work in tandem to provide both comfort and stability. This setup is augmented by a unique carbon suspension system placed between the two foam layers. The carbon system features a convex carbon fiber plate designed to mimic natural foot arch mechanics, aiming to enhance the feeling of lightness and ease during a run.
The Skyward X also introduces a flat knit upper with targeted zones for better fit, complemented by an external TPU heel counter for additional support, and an integrated ghillie system for enhanced midfoot lockdown. The shoe’s specifications include a weight of 9.2 ounces for a Women’s size 8 and 11.3 ounces for a Men’s size 10, with a 48mm stack height and a 5mm drop.
Available from today, the Skyward X can be purchased on HOKA’s website and through authorized dealers globally. The suggested retail price is $225.
