Instacart and Uber Technologies, Inc. have formed a strategic partnership to integrate Uber Eats restaurant delivery within the Instacart platform. This collaboration will enable Instacart users across the United States to order from a wide array of restaurants using a new “Restaurants” tab in the Instacart app. This feature aims to provide a seamless experience by allowing customers to browse menus, place orders, and monitor delivery status in real time.
Scheduled to roll out in the coming weeks, the service will facilitate orders from hundreds of thousands of restaurants delivered by Uber Eats, alongside Instacart’s existing grocery delivery services. Instacart currently offers products from over 1,500 national, regional, and local retailers through more than 85,000 stores. For Instacart+ members, the partnership enhances their current benefits by providing free delivery on both grocery and restaurant orders over $35 without an additional charge.
Uber’s CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership enhancing consumer access to Uber Eats, boosting restaurant business, and creating more work opportunities for couriers. Similarly, Fidji Simo, CEO of Instacart, highlighted the convenience this partnership offers to customers by aggregating both grocery and restaurant delivery in a single application. The initiative is seen as a way for Uber to drive additional traffic to its restaurant partners and expand its market reach across the U.S., including suburban areas predominantly served by Instacart.
This partnership also supports ongoing efforts by both companies to assist traditional brick-and-mortar establishments. By leveraging their technologies, Uber and Instacart aim to facilitate business growth for restaurants and retailers by broadening their customer base and enhancing online sales channels through an enriched Instacart app experience.
