Goodnotes, the AI note-taking app and Apple’s 2022 iPad App of the Year, has unveiled two new features: Palette and Dynamic Ink. These updates enhance the interactions with the Apple Pencil Pro, improving the user experience for writing and creating on the app.

The Palette feature allows users to quickly switch between tools and access common commands by squeezing the Apple Pencil Pro. This functionality lets users modify ink stroke thickness and color without interrupting their workflow. Whether highlighting text, writing in margins, or drawing mind maps, the new Palette makes these transitions seamless and efficient.

Dynamic Ink for the Fountain Pen tool brings a more realistic writing experience. The ink flow now responds to the rotation of the Apple Pencil Pro, in addition to its existing pressure sensitivity. This feature allows for calligraphic variations in strokes, adding a personal touch to digital writing. Users can also control stroke thickness by rolling the barrel of the Apple Pencil Pro, with a stroke preview visible on hover.

Steven Chan, founder and CEO of Goodnotes, emphasized the app’s commitment to enhancing the note-taking and writing experience. He highlighted that the new interactions with the Apple Pencil Pro elevate the functionality of Goodnotes, making it easier for users to capture and express their ideas.

The Palette and Dynamic Ink features are available to all Goodnotes users on iPadOS 17.5 using Apple Pencil Pro and a compatible iPad.
