Serial Wines, part of the John Anthony Wine & Spirits portfolio, has introduced two new blends: the Serial White Blend and Serial Red Blend. These additions expand the Serial Wines collection, which already includes the Serial Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon and a series of exclusive, AVA-designate and single-vineyard direct-to-consumer offerings. This announcement follows the company’s recent expansion under its new name, led by Founder and CEO, John Anthony Truchard. The new blends highlight the biodiversity of the Paso Robles AVA, a rapidly growing wine region.

John Anthony Truchard expressed excitement about the addition of these blends, noting the high demand for wines from Paso Robles. He highlighted the region’s quality and value, reflected in the new blends’ depth and complexity. The wines debuted at the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen, receiving a positive reception from attendees.

The 2023 Serial White Blend features Chardonnay, Viognier, Clairette Blanche, and Albariño. It offers flavors of lemon meringue, white peach, ripe pear, and marmalade, with a touch of marzipan on the finish. This wine is aged on neutral French oak with lightly-toasted Acacia, providing a balanced and complex profile. The 2021 Serial Red Blend combines Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Sirah, Syrah, Tempranillo, and Grenache. It delivers flavors of raspberry, strawberry crumble, and vanilla, with cedar and fresh leather notes. This wine is aged in both French and American oak.

Jeff Kandarian, Executive Winemaker at John Anthony Wine & Spirits, explained that the wines are made in partnership with several small growers across Paso Robles. The Serial Tasting Lounge, which opened in 2022, offers a destination to experience the region’s diversity. The new blends will be available nationally, providing a way to appreciate Paso Robles’ terroir.

The new blends feature unique labels with original artwork. The Serial White Blend label depicts a young woman in fog with breaking clouds, symbolizing the cooler microclimates. The Serial Red Blend label features a Royal Stag in the rain, representing the regality of Cabernet Sauvignon and the fertility of the vineyards.

In addition to expanding its wine collection, Serial Wines has partnered with The San Diego International Film Festival as the Official Wine Sponsor. The festival, a major event in the international film circuit, will take place from October 16 to 20, 2024, with pre-festival events from June through August. Over 10,000 film enthusiasts are expected to attend.

Sarah Montague, Chief Marketing Officer of John Anthony Wine & Spirits, highlighted the partnership’s alignment with Serial’s values of curiosity, discovery, community, and sensory storytelling. The collaboration aims to enhance the festival experience by pairing the enjoyment of film with the complexity of Serial Wines.
