Garmin has announced the Approach Z30 laser range finder, the latest addition to its golf ecosystem. The device enhances golfers’ on-course experience with excellent ranging performance and the new Range Relay feature, which sends ranged distances to compatible Garmin smartwatches or the Garmin Golf smartphone app. Once a target is locked by the Approach Z30, the ranged distance and a laser range arc display on the paired Garmin device, giving players a visual indication of the pin position and surrounding elements.
The Approach Z30 offers fast and precise distance readings up to 400 yards away, with six times magnification through the viewfinder. It vibrates once it locks onto the pin, providing golfers with reliable measurements.
Dan Bartel, Garmin Vice President of Global Consumer Sales, highlighted the seamless integration of the Approach Z30 with other Garmin products, emphasizing its speed, accuracy, and standalone capabilities.
Golfers can benefit from various features designed to improve situational awareness and confidence in club selection. The device provides distance readings from the pin and the front and back of the green. The PlaysLike distance feature adjusts yardage for elevation changes and, when paired with a compatible device, factors in air density for greater accuracy.
The Approach Z30 can be paired with the Garmin Golf App and popular smartwatches, including the Approach S70, S62, S42, fēnix 7 series, epix (Gen 2) series, and MARQ (Gen 2) collection. The device includes a tournament mode with an external indicator light to ensure compliance with competition rules.
A magnetic mount allows for convenient storage on a golf cart, and a carrying case with a carabiner is provided for walking the course. The Find My Garmin feature through the Garmin Golf app helps locate the device if misplaced.
Built to withstand various golf weather conditions, the Approach Z30 has an IPX7 water rating and features a replaceable battery with up to a year of use.
