The Kroger Co. has announced the availability of new cakes inspired by Disney and Pixar’s Cars and Toy Story at its Family of Stores across the United States. These cakes were developed through Kroger’s 2024 Cake Challenge, which featured top Certified Cake Decorators from 20 divisions competing for various awards. The challenge took place at Kroger’s General Office in Cincinnati, Ohio, and involved judging on originality, presentation, difficulty, design, and overall appearance.
The winning cake designs include a Cars-themed sheet cake featuring characters such as Lightning McQueen, Cruz Ramirez, and Jackson Storm, decorated with red, yellow, and blue icing, as well as a lightning bolt and speedometer. Additionally, a Toy Story-themed sheet cake showcases a 3D Woody decoration with red, yellow, and blue icing.
Josh Harpole, Vice President of Deli and Bakery at Kroger, highlighted the importance of the cake decorators’ role in creating memorable experiences for customers. He expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with Disney and Pixar to bring these themed cakes to stores nationwide.
Pete LaSota, Senior Manager of Sales/Retail Marketing at Disney Consumer Products, also commented on the partnership, noting the opportunity to support Kroger and DecoPac in enhancing cake celebrations.
