Schwinn Bikes has introduced the Hurricane, a compact e-bike designed with younger riders in mind, bringing a blend of nostalgia and modern functionality. This new model marks Schwinn’s first e-bike aimed at Gen Z, featuring a 250-watt motor that reaches speeds up to 17.5 miles per hour with a simple twist of the throttle. Drawing design inspiration from the original 1978 Hurricane, the e-bike includes retro details like high-rise handlebars, fat tires, and a rugged frame.
Key features of the Hurricane include dual riding modes with both throttle and pedal-assist options, a range of up to 30 miles on a single charge, and mechanical disc brakes for reliable stopping power. The bike’s wide 3-inch tires are designed to provide stability on a variety of surfaces. For added safety, the Hurricane comes equipped with automatic LED front and rear lights, as well as a chainguard and fenders to protect riders and keep them clean.
Lisa VanderMause, VP of Marketing at Schwinn, expressed enthusiasm about the launch, emphasizing the Hurricane’s appeal as both an affordable and fun option for riders. With its compact design and accessible features, Schwinn aims to offer a quality riding experience that taps into a sense of adventure while delivering a modern twist on a classic model. The Hurricane is available now, ready to bring a new generation of riders the thrill of exploration.
