Cox Farms, a subsidiary of Cox Enterprises and recognized as the largest greenhouse operator in North America, has announced a partnership with Feeding America to combat food insecurity in the United States and Canada. This collaboration aims to provide fresh produce to food banks and communities, enhancing access to nutritious food for families in need.

Steven Bradley, president of Cox Farms, stated that the partnership aligns with the company’s commitment to improving community health by supplying fresh food to those facing hunger. The initiative will utilize advanced greenhouse technology and sustainable farming practices to donate a variety of produce, including lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries, and peppers, throughout the year.

Feeding America operates a nationwide network comprising over 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries and meal programs, which collectively distribute approximately 5.9 billion meals annually to individuals experiencing food insecurity. The organization also plays a significant role in redistributing 4 billion pounds of surplus food, mitigating waste that would otherwise contribute to landfills.

Erika Thiem, Chief Supply Chain Officer at Feeding America, emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in the fight against hunger, noting that the partnership with Cox Farms will enhance access to nutritious food across various communities.

Cox Farms operates more than 700 acres of greenhouse space and employs over 2,500 individuals, producing over 450 million pounds of fresh produce each year. The company is also associated with BrightFarms and Mucci Farms, which reflect its commitment to sustainable agriculture. Through this partnership, Cox Farms intends to contribute millions of pounds of fresh produce to Feeding America’s local food banks, addressing the pressing issues of food insecurity and the necessity for improved nutrition in underserved populations.

This initiative is part of Cox Enterprises’ broader mission to create a better future, aiming to empower 34 million individuals to achieve greater prosperity by 2034 through its 34by34 Initiative. By providing fresh and nutritious food, Cox Farms is contributing to the improvement of health outcomes and the promotion of a more equitable society.
