SPARQ, a startup based in Irvine, has introduced SPARQ Diagnostics, a device designed to enhance the relationship between drivers and their vehicles. This technology allows users to interact with their cars using artificial intelligence, enabling them to identify existing issues and predict potential problems.
SPARQ Diagnostics offers various communication methods, including voice, text, images, and sound. Drivers can ask questions about their vehicle’s status, such as inquiries about warning lights or strange noises. The device, which debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show, provides data comparable to high-end commercial-grade on-board diagnostics scanners without the recurring fees associated with other consumer devices.
A notable feature of SPARQ Diagnostics is “Timelapse,” which provides users with a timeline detailing their vehicle’s history, including past repairs, recalls, and upcoming service needs. This feature aims to simplify vehicle maintenance by presenting all relevant information in a single location.
Daniel Nieh, co-founder of SPARQ, highlighted the limitations of traditional owner’s manuals, stating, “You can’t ask your 400-page owner’s manual why you’re hearing a clicking sound under the hood.” SPARQ Diagnostics aims to empower drivers by facilitating their understanding of vehicle maintenance.
Another component of the SPARQ experience is “Glovebox,” which allows users to store important documents digitally. This feature provides insights into whether detected issues or recommended services are covered by the driver’s insurance policy.
SPARQ also offers geolocation services to recommend nearby service centers based on user reviews, helping drivers make informed decisions regarding vehicle repairs.
The retail price for SPARQ Diagnostics is set at $499, with no ongoing fees. To promote its launch, SPARQ is offering the device free for a limited time. The company prioritizes customer privacy and does not share user data with third parties or insurance companies.
