The Navy SEAL Foundation (NSF) is an organization dedicated to providing essential support to warriors, veterans, and families associated with Naval Special Warfare. Established in 2000, the NSF is commencing its 25th year by collaborating with J. Mattingly 1845 Distillery. This partnership has resulted in the introduction of three double-staved American whiskeys, named “Sea,” “Air,” and “Land,” which reflect the various environments in which SEALs operate. Each whiskey is available for individual purchase at $155, while a complete set can be acquired for $425 through their online store, with free shipping offered. From each bottle sold, J. Mattingly 1845 will contribute $30 to support the NSF’s initiatives.
Chris Irwin, Communications Director of the NSF, stated, “At the Foundation, we offer more than 30 comprehensive programs to help SEALs, SWCCs, and their families.” He expressed gratitude for the partnership with J. Mattingly 1845 Distillery, emphasizing its importance in advancing the foundation’s mission.
The collection includes the J. Mattingly 1845 Double Staved 5-Year-Old Kentucky Bourbon Sea Edition, which is bottled at 127 proof. This bourbon features a mashbill of 78 percent corn, 10 percent rye, and 12 percent malted barley, and is noted for its balance and subtle baking spice flavors.
The J. Mattingly 1845 Double Staved 9-Year-Old Light Whiskey Air Edition, distilled in 2016 and bottled at 129 proof, is created using a mashbill of 99 percent corn and 1 percent malted barley. It is characterized as full-bodied with complex flavors, including notes reminiscent of crème brulée crust and sweet graham cracker.
Lastly, the J. Mattingly 1845 Double Staved 5-Year-Old Rye Whiskey Land Edition is bottled at 119 proof, featuring a mashbill of 95 percent rye and 5 percent malted barley. This whiskey is described as having subtle spice notes and a finish that includes baking spices.
