Tequila Don Julio will once again be featured at the Governors Ball, the official after-party for the 97th Academy Awards, taking place on March 2, 2025. This marks the brand’s eighth consecutive year as a partner of the event. The celebration will include a specialty bar experience designed by mixologist Charles Joly in collaboration with Handshake Speakeasy, named the 2024 World’s Best Bar. Together, they have created a selection of signature cocktails inspired by modern Mexican flavors.
Tequila Don Julio, originally crafted in the Highlands of Jalisco, will be the base for the evening’s featured drinks. The cocktail menu includes options such as the Golden Age Gimlet made with Tequila Don Julio Blanco, The Clear Winner featuring Tequila Don Julio Reposado, Standing Ovation made with Tequila Don Julio Alma Miel, and The Class Act, which highlights Tequila Don Julio 1942. To prepare for the event, the team has sourced ingredients including limes, espresso beans, and apples.
Charles Joly, who has previously worked with Tequila Don Julio at the event, emphasized the importance of creating drinks that reflect the occasion. “Each cocktail gets the star-studded treatment with Tequila Don Julio at the foundation, offering depth and complexity combined with elegance and refinement that makes each drink worthy to toast to the night with,” Joly said. “This occasion is often referred to as ‘Hollywood’s Biggest Night’ and we take that to heart. It’s an incredible honor for us to show up with celebratory cocktails made just for that night.”
The event will take place in Los Angeles, a city with a longstanding connection to the brand. Tequila Don Julio has expressed support for the community and acknowledged the challenges the area has faced, particularly in the wake of recent wildfires. For those watching from home, the brand suggests recreating the event’s signature cocktails as a way to enjoy the experience remotely.
