Genesis has introduced the X Gran Equator Concept, marking the brand’s first venture into the adventure vehicle segment. This concept embodies a blend of elegance and ruggedness, aligning with Genesis’ design philosophy known as “Athletic Elegance.” The vehicle is designed for individuals who appreciate both the tranquility of nature and the excitement of exploration.
The exterior of the X Gran Equator Concept showcases a minimalist design, featuring clean lines and smooth surfaces. Its long hood, streamlined cabin, and fast C-pillar contribute to a silhouette that challenges conventional SUV design. The vehicle is equipped with dark wheel-arch cladding and 24-inch beadlock wheels, indicating its capability for off-road use. Additionally, the design includes geometric auxiliary lamps and a split-opening tailgate, which complement the brand’s signature Two-Line headlamps.
Inside, the concept merges traditional analog design with modern digital technology, creating a functional yet aesthetically pleasing environment. The centerpiece of the cabin is a four-circle display cluster, reminiscent of vintage camera dials. The interior emphasizes geometric shapes and contrasting colors, steering clear of overly decorative elements. The dashboard’s straightforward architecture directs the driver’s focus towards the driving experience, while features like swiveling front seats and modular storage solutions enhance usability.
The name “X Gran Equator” is inspired by the Equator, which symbolizes endurance and agility, qualities that reflect the vehicle’s intended performance in challenging conditions while maintaining elegance. This concept illustrates Genesis’ commitment to expanding its offerings in lifestyle-oriented vehicles, blending sophistication with functionality.
While the X Gran Equator Concept is not yet confirmed for production, its innovative features, such as integrated roof rails and a split-opening tailgate, suggest potential directions for the brand’s future design. The concept will be showcased at the Genesis booth during the 2025 New York International Auto Show, which begins on April 18 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. After the event, it will be available for viewing at Genesis House in the Meatpacking District until the end of July.
