BonBon Swedish Candy Co. has introduced a new product inspired by the iconic character Pippi Longstocking. Called Pippi’s Gold Coins, the tropical sour candy features pineapple and apricot flavors and is being released in celebration of Pippi’s 80th birthday, which takes place on May 21, 2025. The candy is now available nationwide.

Pippi Longstocking was created by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren and is known for her independence, physical strength, and unconventional personality. BonBon, known for bringing Swedish candy to U.S. markets since 2017, developed the candy as a tribute to the character’s lasting influence.

Selim Adira, co-founder and Chief Product Officer at BonBon, commented on the launch by saying, “Pippi has always been a symbol of girl power, courage, and imagination. It is an honor to create a candy that embodies her strong spirit and brings a taste of her unique world to fans everywhere.”

The new candy includes a sour flavor profile intended to reflect Pippi’s bold and adventurous character. BonBon continues to focus on products that connect Scandinavian culture and storytelling with American audiences through confections.
