Chipotle Mexican Grill is celebrating its superfans with a limited-edition temporary tattoo collection and a one-hour BOGO offer on Friday, June 13. From 3 to 4 p.m. local time, anyone who comes into a Chipotle restaurant “tatted like a Chipotle bag” — with permanent ink, a temporary tattoo or even a drawn-on design — can buy one entrée and get one free.
To kick things off, 13 restaurants nationwide will hand out flash tattoo sheets featuring 13 designs inspired by Chipotle’s iconic takeout bag artwork. The tats include illustrations of fresh ingredients, the black fork logo, a Chipotle water cup and the slogan “Chipotle is my life.” Tattoo sheets will be issued with any order placed during the BOGO hour while supplies last at locations in Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Columbus, Denver, La Jolla, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Portland, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Scottsdale.
The promotion plays on the phrase “tatted like a Chipotle bag,” which went viral after a 2019 halftime performance compared a singer’s body art to Chipotle’s bag design. “On the biggest day of the year for tattoos, we’re honoring our bold superfans who have artwork reminiscent of our takeout bags,” said Stephanie Perdue, vice president of brand marketing. “Fans who aren’t ready for permanent ink can try our temporary designs and enjoy a BOGO entrée.”
