Tonies is rolling out Toniebox 2, a next-generation version of its screen-free audio player that adds interactive play, new sleep features and a refreshed design while keeping compatibility with every existing Tonie figure. The update introduces two distinct tracks for use: classic story and song listening for younger kids, and a new interactive layer for older children through Tonieplay, a library of audio-led games and quizzes controlled with a dedicated Tonieplay Controller. The company positions the device as a way to give kids independent, ad-free play from about age 1 through the early grades, with parents managing settings in the tonies app.
Toniebox 2 adds a dynamic light ring that glows during playback and provides visual cues inside Tonieplay titles. Bedtime tools arrive for the first time: a sleep timer with light and a sunrise alarm that aim to build consistent wind-down and wake-up routines. The cube itself has rounded corners, a softer feel and a new color palette that includes Sunset Red, Cloud Pink, Tropical Teal, Sky Blue and Moon Grey. Tonies says the platform remains closed to outside content, emphasizing curation and simplicity for independent use.
Tonieplay debuts as a separate content lane designed for kids ready to make choices and follow challenges. At launch there will be twelve audio games featuring characters from PAW Patrol, Gabby’s Dollhouse, Winnie the Pooh, Disney classics and tonies’ own Lalalinos. The company says the titles encourage problem solving and focus, and that progress can be saved thanks to a new game engine tied to the controller, near field communication and cloud services. Games can be played solo or with friends and family.
For the youngest listeners, Tonies is introducing My First Tonies, a collection of soft, squeezable figures approved for ages 1 and up. The first sets focus on familiar themes such as Farm, Travel and Jungle, using real-world sounds and age-appropriate songs to support early language and curiosity. As with standard Tonies, placing a figure on the box starts the content instantly; squeezing and simple taps remain the core controls for small hands.
Toniebox 2 builds on the sizable catalog already in market. The company cites more than 9.5 million boxes and 125 million figurines sold to date, and says new stories and games will continue arriving monthly. The original Toniebox remains fully supported; Toniebox 2 works with all existing Tonies and accessories to preserve households’ current libraries.
