Toyota has collaborated with DC’s new superhero, Blue Beetle, to showcase the 2024 Tacoma in the latter’s debut movie. The film features multiple generations of the Tacoma, including the 3rd generation model, which is integral to the character Jaime Reyes and his family. The 4th generation of the Tacoma also makes a cameo appearance in the movie.
The design and engineering teams from Toyota partnered with DC to develop a unique 2024 Tacoma with a distinctive design and signature paint. Scott Roller led Toyota’s CALTY Studio team in this endeavor. Sheldon Brown, the Chief Engineer for the Tacoma, stated that the design was modern and integrated with the new 2024 Tacoma. The truck in the film has been nicknamed the “Blue Taco.”
Toyota trucks have previously been featured in Hollywood films, such as the 1985 Toyota SR5 Xtra Cab in “Back to the Future” and the first-generation Tundra in “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.”
Features and Specifications:
The 2024 Tacoma comes with multiple powertrain options, including an i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain that offers up to 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft. of torque. The truck also has 4×4 capability and includes updated safety and technology features. Additionally, the 2024 Tacoma introduces the first-ever Trailhunter grade, engineered specifically for overlanding.
Availability:
The 2024 Tacoma is expected to be available in dealerships by the end of this year.
