Lotus has unveiled its first-ever four-door hyper-GT, the Emeya, in New York City. Feng Qingfeng, CEO of Lotus Group, emphasized the vehicle’s blend of Lotus’s rich heritage with modern performance and technology, aiming to redefine luxury electric vehicles.
The Emeya combines 75 years of Lotus’s engineering and design prowess with the latest technological advancements. It boasts active aerodynamic features, including an innovative active front grille, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler. These features, coupled with what Lotus terms as “hyperstance,” ensure enhanced stability and set a new benchmark in the GT segment.
One of the standout features of the Emeya is its electronically controlled air suspension system. This system’s sensors gauge the road conditions 1,000 times every second, adjusting the vehicle for optimal ride comfort.
Performance-wise, the top-tier Emeya model is equipped with Lotus’s high-power dual motor setup. This allows the car to reach speeds exceeding 155mph and achieve 0-62mph in under 2.8 seconds, placing it among the world’s fastest electric GTs. Additionally, Emeya offers impressive charging capabilities, gaining 93 miles of range in about five minutes with a 350kW DC fast charger.
Sustainability is at the forefront of Emeya’s design. The car incorporates sustainably sourced advanced materials, including a luxury thread derived from repurposed fashion industry fibers, PVD aluminium, Alcantara, Nappa leather, and Ultrafabrics PU.
For audiophiles, Emeya offers an immersive audio system developed in collaboration with KEF. This system features KEF’s award-winning Uni-Q speaker design, Uni-Core subwoofer enclosure, and Dolby Atmos-enabled 3D surround sound.
Ben Payne, Vice-President of Design at Lotus Group, described the Emeya as a unique Lotus offering, combining the brand’s sports car DNA with luxury and comfort in a four-door format. The name “Emeya” was chosen to represent Lotus’s ambition and dedication to this new model.
Emeya is set to be the crown jewel in Lotus’s range of luxury electric vehicles, aligning with the company’s goal to establish itself as a global performance brand by 2028. Production is slated to commence in 2024.
The car’s global debut took place at Studio Emeya in New York City, a three-day event celebrating Lotus’s past, present, and future. This event spanned four levels of a Manhattan parking lot, offering guests an in-depth look at the Emeya’s creation process and the emotions it aims to evoke. The event culminated in a rooftop party featuring DJ Benji B.
Studio Emeya will be open to the public for one day on September 9th. More details about the Emeya, including market availability and pricing, will be disclosed in the coming months.
