Hyundai Motor Group has announced a forthcoming exhibition and road tour of 20 art cars in New York City. This initiative is in support of the South Korean city of Busan’s aspiration to host the 2030 World Expo.
The showcased art cars will include Hyundai Motor’s all-electric models, IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6, as well as the Electrified G80 sedan from the Genesis luxury brand. These vehicles will be adorned with graffiti artwork by the notable Korean artist, ‘JAY FLOW’. The designs aim to capture the essence of Busan, featuring city icons and the slogan ‘BUSAN is Ready.’
The exhibition is scheduled to coincide with the UN General Assembly High-level Week 2023 and will take place from September 17 to 22. Hyundai Motor Group intends to host the exhibition at the Genesis House New York in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District and other prominent locations in New York, such as Times Square.
Additionally, the art cars will tour New York City’s streets, offering global leaders, tourists, and locals a glimpse of Busan’s culture and its preparedness to host the 2030 World Expo.
Hyundai Motor Group’s global efforts to back Busan’s bid encompass showcasing art cars in major cities, participating in bid support activities at international events, and highlighting Busan’s dedication to hosting a carbon-neutral expo with sustainable transportation for Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) delegations.
After the recent successful display of art cars in Jakarta and New Delhi during international events, Busan’s bid has garnered considerable international interest. The artwork on these cars received worldwide praise, further strengthening support for Busan.
To amplify global backing for Busan’s bid, Hyundai Motor Group has also released over 80 pieces of content, including videos and infographics, promoting Busan as the potential host city. Notably, two promotional video series, made in collaboration with Busan residents and foreigners in Korea, amassed over 100 million views within three months since their June release, enhancing international endorsement for Busan’s bid.
