The LEGO Group, in collaboration with Nintendo, has announced a new addition to its LEGO Super Mario theme aimed at adults. The new set features a brick-built Piranha Plant, an iconic character from the Super Mario video games. The set is composed of over 500 pieces and is designed to be posable, allowing users to adjust the head, mouth, stalk, and leaves of the Piranha Plant. The building process is designed to simulate the plant growing out of a pipe, adding an extra layer of engagement to the experience.
Carl Merriam, Senior Designer for LEGO Super Mario, stated that the design aimed to capture the distinctive features of the Piranha Plant, including its menacing appearance. The set is part of LEGO’s adult line of Super Mario-themed building kits, which also includes other sets like The Mighty Bowser. These sets are intended to evoke nostalgia among LEGO fans who grew up with Mario video games.
The LEGO Super Mario Piranha Plant set is intended for individuals aged 18 and above. It is priced at $59.99 in the United States, €64.99 in Europe, and £57.99 in the United Kingdom. The set contains 540 pieces and the finished model measures 23cm in height, 11cm in width, and 17cm in depth.
