Ace Hardware, the world’s largest retailer-owned hardware cooperative, has introduced a new store concept called “ELEVATE3 Ace,” set to be implemented in both new and existing stores over the next five years. This new store model is supported by a $1 billion investment and aims to enhance the customer experience while driving store growth. The ELEVATE3 Ace concept was unveiled during Ace’s 100-year anniversary celebration at their fall convention in Chicago.

The ELEVATE3 Ace store model represents a significant shift in Ace Hardware’s approach, focusing on four key areas: Paint, Power, Backyards & Barbeque, and Home Preservation. According to John Venhuizen, Ace Hardware President and CEO, this initiative is designed to strengthen ties with local communities by creating spaces that offer not just products, but also opportunities for connection. The new store model will feature premium brand showrooms, enhanced customer service, and a store design that engages all five senses. The outdoor space will include live goods displays and grilling areas for demonstrations and events, aimed at providing an aspirational backyard experience.

The new concept will also bring new product assortments and features designed to improve the overall shopping experience. Ace Hardware plans to invest over $1 billion in opening new stores and remodeling existing ones, with the ELEVATE3 Ace model at the core of this investment. The first stores featuring the new design will be limited in number starting this year, with a broader roll-out scheduled to begin in January 2025 and continue over the following five years.

More than 17,600 Ace Hardware retailers and industry professionals who attended the fall convention in Chicago were the first to see the 13,000-square-foot ELEVATE3 Ace model store, complete with outdoor spaces and live demonstrations. The concept received positive feedback for its design and functionality.
