American Metal Whiskey has introduced a new limited-edition product called The Disciple, expanding on its line of premium whiskeys. This sonic-infused whiskey, available online in select states at americanmetalwhiskey.com, represents a novel approach to whiskey craftsmanship. The release follows the brand’s previous successes with its 90 proof whiskey and a limited edition 10-year 96 proof single-barrel whiskey.
The Disciple is a 750ml whiskey priced at $80, with a 45% ABV (90 proof). It begins with the award-winning 90 proof Tennessee straight whiskey, which is made from a high corn mash bill, distilled in Tennessee, and aged in Vermont. What distinguishes The Disciple is its unique sonic infusion process, which incorporates sounds from a custom motorcycle crafted by co-founder and Master Builder Josh Allison.
Allison described the innovation as a first in the industry, explaining that the sound of a vintage 1941 Harley-Davidson EL Knucklehead engine is played through a waterproof speaker submerged inside American Oak barrels during the aging process. This technique is intended to create complex tasting notes and an appealing color, emphasizing American Metal’s commitment to quality and creativity.
Sailor Guevara from American Whiskey Magazine has reviewed The Disciple, highlighting its medium amber color and distinctive packaging that resembles album cover art. Guevara noted the whiskey’s inviting aromas of brown sugar, cereal grain, and roasted almonds, along with hints of oak and caramel. The flavor profile includes sweet vanilla cream, peanut brittle, and stone fruits, complemented by baking spices and a lingering finish.
To enjoy The Disciple, a suggested cocktail recipe titled The Rowdy One includes American Metal Whiskey, Demerara syrup, and Angostura and Regans Orange bitters, stirred and served over ice with a flamed orange peel garnish.
