Ampace has expanded the capacity of its Andes 1500 Portable Power Station with the launch of the Andes 1500 Extra Battery. The industrial-grade lithium-ion module adds 1,462 Wh of energy in a 13 kg package and can be paralleled up to seven times, delivering a total of 11,696 Wh. According to the company, this configuration can sustain the electricity needs of an average household for up to one week without grid power.

Built around residential energy storage system (RESS)-grade cells, the Extra Battery uses the same chemistry as the base station to ensure compatibility and safety. It supports rapid recharging in as little as 55 minutes and is rated for 6,000 full-depth cycles, equivalent to more than 15 years of daily use. The rugged enclosure is tested to operate between –4 °F and 113 °F, making it suitable for both emergency sheltering and remote off-grid activities.

A built-in LCD provides real-time feedback on charge level and remaining recharge time, while an accompanying mobile app offers remote monitoring and control. The unit features integrated cable storage, a dual-handle design for ease of transport and protected output ports to prevent incorrect connections. Compatible appliances include critical home equipment, high-power tools and medical devices.

The Extra Battery arrives ahead of the summer storm season, during which forecasters anticipate an increase in severe weather events. “Dependable power is not just a convenience, it is a necessity,” said Alfonso Chen, CMB Director of Ampace. He added that the new module is intended to provide “peace of mind and potentially lifesaving reliability” for families facing extended outages.

The Andes 1500 Extra Battery is available through Ampace’s authorized dealers and online channels, and integrates seamlessly with the existing Andes 1500 Portable Power Station for scalable energy storage solutions.
