Applegate has added two new products to its frozen chicken portfolio: Lightly Breaded Chicken Tenders and Lightly Breaded Popcorn Chicken. Both offerings fall under the Applegate Naturals line and are made from whole cuts of white meat chicken that is humanely raised with no antibiotics. The products are also gluten-free and minimally processed, in keeping with the brand’s focus on natural and organic meats.
The new Lightly Breaded line is designed to appeal to consumers seeking convenient, high-protein freezer options without sacrificing quality. Each serving offers 12 to 14 grams of protein and features a rice flour coating that results in two fewer grams of carbohydrates and two more grams of protein than Applegate’s existing gluten-free chicken breast tenders. The tenders and popcorn chicken are ready in minutes and come in resealable family-size bags for ease of use.
According to Applegate President Joseph O’Connor, the goal was to create a product that satisfies cravings for crispy, flavorful chicken while addressing dietary concerns, especially for those avoiding gluten. By dialing back the breading, the brand has aimed for a crispier bite that still delivers on taste and nutrition.
Applegate reports a repeat purchase rate nearly double the frozen breaded chicken category average and plans to build on that momentum. The Lightly Breaded line brings Applegate’s total frozen offerings to 14, reinforcing its presence in both natural and gluten-free segments of the aisle.
