Baja Foods, a family-owned company specializing in authentic Mexican cuisine, has introduced its latest retail brand, Chef Gustavo. The brand’s inaugural product is Chicken & Cheese Enchiladas with Salsa Verde, which is now available in the frozen foods section at select Costco locations in the Midwest.
The Chef Gustavo brand is led by Chef Gustavo Chávez, who serves as the Executive Chef at Baja Foods. Chávez, originally from Michoacán, Mexico, developed his culinary skills under the guidance of his father and further honed his expertise in the United States after immigrating at the age of 13. He gained experience working with prominent chefs and became the youngest manager at the El Torito restaurant chain in California. In addition to his culinary career, Chávez has made over 100 television appearances and has collaborated with various well-known brands.
The Chicken & Cheese Enchiladas with Salsa Verde are made with antibiotic-free shredded white meat chicken, which is hand-rolled in corn tortillas and combined with fresh vegetables. The dish is served on fiesta rice and topped with tomatillo salsa verde and a blend of melted cheeses. Each package contains eight enchiladas, designed to provide a convenient meal option for families.
Art Velasquez, CEO of Baja Foods, commented on the launch, stating that it represents a significant step in their mission to share authentic Mexican cuisine. He emphasized that the product reflects Chef Gustavo’s culinary heritage and commitment to quality.
Costco locations in various cities across the Midwest, including Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Des Moines, Detroit, Grand Rapids, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Louisville, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Omaha, St. Louis, and Toledo, will carry the Chef Gustavo Enchiladas.
