The San Francisco Peninsula Travel & Tourism Board has announced that it will host California’s 2024 MICHELIN Guide Ceremony in Half Moon Bay on Monday, August 5, at The Ritz-Carlton. The event will unveil and celebrate the annual MICHELIN Guide selection of California restaurants, with notable chefs from across the state and global media in attendance.
John Hutar, President and CEO of The San Francisco Peninsula, expressed honor in hosting the event at the Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay. He highlighted the region’s diverse culinary scene, emphasizing the presence of over 17 MICHELIN-recognized restaurants and numerous locally loved dining establishments. The Peninsula, known for its cultural diversity, offers a rich food culture reflecting various traditions.
The San Francisco Peninsula is recognized for its exceptional culinary offerings, supported by over 50 working farms and vibrant bay harbors providing fresh seafood year-round. The region is known for its farm-to-table and fusion cuisine, set against the scenic backdrop of the ocean and redwoods.
The MICHELIN Guide evaluates culinary destinations worldwide through independent inspections conducted by anonymous inspectors. The assessment criteria include the quality of products, harmony of flavors, mastery of cooking techniques, the chef’s personality reflected in the cuisine, and consistency across visits and the entire menu.
Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guides, expressed anticipation for celebrating the selection of restaurants for 2024. Poullennec acknowledged California’s impressive gastronomy scene with its international influences and outstanding cuisine.
