Callaway Golf has announced the release of its new Opus and Opus Platinum Wedges, featuring innovative Spin Gen Face Technology. This technology combines three key elements on the wedge face to enhance spin and control. These elements include a tighter pitch for more grooves, an offset groove-in-groove design, and an aggressive face blast for improved spin on partial shots. Together, they provide Tour-level spin and control.
The Opus Wedges also feature a new design with a higher toe peak, radius in the leading edge, and smoother hosel transitions. They offer a range of sole shapes to suit different swings, including the S grind, W grind, C grind, and T grind. These shapes are intended to help players find the right fit for their game.
The Opus Wedges have already seen success on Tour, with notable victories by Xander Schauffele at the 2024 PGA Championship and Yuka Saso at the 2024 U.S. Women’s Open. Other Tour winners using the Opus Wedges include Akshay Bhatia, Chris Kirk, and Ruoning Yin.
The Opus Wedges are available in Brushed Chrome and Black Shadow finishes, with a raw version available for custom orders. Stock shaft options include the True Temper Dynamic Gold MID 115g (steel) and UST Recoil DART HDC 65g (graphite), paired with Golf Pride Tour Velvet +2 Gray grips. They will be available at retail starting July 26th at a price of $179.99 each.
The Opus Platinum Wedges introduce advancements from metal injection molding and tungsten for better launch control. The MiM Construction allows for precision in wedge construction, enhancing touch and feel. The inclusion of tungsten in the topline helps lower the flight for more control and spin into greens. These wedges also incorporate Spin Gen Face Technology and Tour Certified Shaping for optimal performance.
