Campbell Soup Company has launched a new line of Prego sauces: Creamy Pesto. This new offering is designed to make pesto more accessible and versatile, providing a kid-friendly option that extends beyond traditional pasta dishes. The introduction of Creamy Pesto sauces adds variety to the Italian sauce aisle, which has been predominantly focused on red sauces.
The new Prego Creamy Pesto sauces blend the creamy texture of Alfredo with the vibrant, herby flavor of pesto. Made with real basil and fresh cream, these sauces come in three distinct varieties, each designed to enhance a wide range of dishes. They can be paired with classic pasta like spaghetti and ravioli, as well as used to elevate vegetables, pizza, poultry, seafood, sandwiches, and more.
Caitlin Votava, Director of Marketing at Prego, noted that pesto is experiencing the highest growth within the Italian sauce category, despite being the smallest segment. She highlighted the demand for new meal inspirations and flavors, which led to the creation of Creamy Pesto sauces aimed at making weeknight dinners both easy and flavorful.
The new assortment includes three varieties, each priced at $2.82:
- Prego Creamy Basil Pesto: This sauce combines fresh cream, Romano cheese, and real basil, offering a creamy twist on the classic pesto. It pairs well with various dishes, such as the Creamy Chicken Pesto Sandwich, making it a perfect choice for lunch.
- Prego Creamy Roasted Garlic Pesto: Made with fresh cream, Parmesan cheese, real basil, and roasted garlic, this sauce provides a unique and flavor-packed experience. It can be used to spice up dinner, for instance, with the Parmesan-Crusted Pesto Salmon recipe.
- Prego Creamy Parmesan Pesto: Featuring fresh cream, Parmesan cheese, real basil, and roasted garlic, this variety is ideal for Parmesan lovers. It works well in recipes like the Pesto Spinach and Artichoke Dip.
These new Prego Creamy Pesto sauces are designed to inspire creativity in the kitchen and simplify meal preparation, offering a delicious and approachable way to enjoy the taste of pesto in various dishes.
