Casio America has officially introduced the GA-V01 series, a first-of-its-kind addition to the G-SHOCK lineup that marks a significant step forward in both design and shock resistance technology. Inspired by founder Kikuo Ibe’s original rubber ball prototype, the GA-V01 embraces G-SHOCK’s roots while pushing the boundaries of toughness and form.
The series is built around a protected core structure with a bold, rugged exterior that integrates the bezel and band into a seamless design. The oversized indexes stretch over curved glass, creating a striking visual and serving as an added layer of impact protection. The watches are available in metallic silver, neon yellow, purple, and matte black colorways, each representing a different phase of G-SHOCK’s evolving brand story.
One of the key innovations in the GA-V01 is its magnetic holding structure. Unlike conventional designs, the minute hand—called the Shock Release Hand—is held in place using magnetic force rather than being fixed directly to the shaft. This enhancement improves shock absorption and allows for greater flexibility in design, including the use of larger, more visually prominent hands.
The analog-digital display showcases a layered dial with metallic elements and a full-screen LCD, delivering both style and functionality. Other design features include contoured side buttons, bumper-style indexes, and spherical glass for added depth.
The GA-V01 is equipped with G-SHOCK staples such as 200-meter water resistance, a 1/100-second stopwatch, world time for 48 cities, countdown timer, hand shift feature, five daily alarms, a double LED light (Super Illuminator), and a 10-year battery.
This new release reinforces G-SHOCK’s commitment to continuous innovation, combining iconic durability with next-gen engineering to meet the demands of a new generation of watch enthusiasts.
