Garmin is recognizing World Sleep Day by highlighting the importance of good sleep and how its smartwatches can assist users in monitoring their sleep patterns. Recent data from the Garmin Connect community indicates that users have improved their average sleep score from 70 to 72 over the past year. Garmin smartwatches track various metrics including sleep duration, stress levels, and heart rate, providing users with insights into their sleep quality and overall wellness.
The latest models, such as the Venu 3, fenix 8, Forerunner 265, and vívoactive 5, come equipped with features designed to enhance sleep tracking. These include personalized coaching based on sleep history, a sleep score that rates sleep quality, and a breakdown of sleep stages including light, deep, and REM sleep. The smartwatches can also automatically detect naps and provide recommendations for optimal nap duration. For travelers, the jet lag advisor feature offers guidance on managing sleep schedules during long-distance trips.
Garmin has conducted multiple studies on sleep data, revealing that a significant portion of users, approximately 67.1%, average seven or more hours of sleep per night. The data also shows that users typically experience about 1 hour and 13 minutes of REM sleep, alongside 1 hour and 17 minutes of deep sleep. Notably, younger users tend to report better sleep quality compared to older demographics. Users from Iceland and Finland have the highest average sleep scores, while those in Vietnam report lower scores.
Garmin’s commitment to providing insights into sleep patterns aims to help users understand the relationship between sleep and their daily performance, thereby promoting overall health and well-being.
