Chaos Audio has announced a change in its pricing and business model, reducing the cost of its multi-effect, app-enabled guitar pedal, Stratus. The price has been lowered from $380 to $249 to make the hardware more accessible and expand the user base.
According to CEO Landon McCoy, the decision to lower the price was made to scale up and lower the barrier to entry for potential users. Stratus is described as an affordable way for guitarists to achieve a wide range of tones. The pedal previously included 34 free effects, but now comes with 18, with additional effects available for purchase individually or in bundles such as the “TonePass” package.
Chaos Audio is also expanding its presence both domestically and internationally. The company has partnered with B4 Distribution in Remagen, Germany, to make the Stratus pedal more affordable for European musicians by reducing shipping costs and import fees. B4 Distribution has already made an initial purchase of 108 pedals. This partnership allows European customers to buy the Stratus pedal from local music stores or online retailers like Thomann.
Volker Buchele, Chief Operating Officer of B4 Distribution, expressed optimism about the partnership, stating that Chaos Audio’s hardware and software are expected to become widely used in various musical settings.
Additionally, Chaos Audio has reached an agreement with the MVM Company in South Korea, which distributes musical equipment and software. MVM has expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting Chaos Audio’s innovative approach to music technology.
