Founded in Fort Worth, Texas, by three friends with a passion for tequila and agave spirits, La Pulga Tequila is produced in Mexico. The founders faced challenges in finding a tequila that was both high-quality and affordable, leading them to create their own brand. After several trips to Mexico, they partnered with a distillery in the Los Altos region of Jalisco, known for producing artisanal tequila. They developed a unique taste profile that reflects their vision for premium tequila.
The name “La Pulga” is inspired by a traditional outdoor market in Fort Worth, symbolizing community and cultural heritage. Alan Thompson, CEO of La Pulga Spirits, stated, “La Pulga is one of the fastest-growing tequilas in Texas, and we’re enormously excited to now bring it to consumers and bartenders across the country, starting with important markets like New Jersey where people understand and appreciate high-quality, affordable spirits.”
In New Jersey, La Pulga Tequila is distributed by the New Jersey Beverage Alliance, which includes various beverage companies. Consumers can also purchase the tequila online through the La Pulga website. The tequila is made from 100% Blue Weber Agave sourced from the high altitudes of the Jalisco Highlands and is available in several varieties, including La Pulga Blanco, La Pulga Reposado, and La Pulga Añejo. Each bottle features a premium cork stopper and a medallion that signifies the brand’s dedication to quality and community. La Pulga Mezcal and La Pulga Sotol are also part of the brand’s offerings now available in New Jersey.
