Leading sour candy brand SOUR PUNCH has introduced a new product: maple bacon flavored Sour Punch Bites. This launch is not a prank, despite the unusual flavor combination. The inspiration for these bites stems from the brand’s previous April Fool’s Day releases, which included a Sour Cream & Onion flavor that was never brought to market but generated significant consumer interest.
In 2023, SOUR PUNCH also released Sour Punch Pickle Roulette Straws, which featured a mix of sweet and sour fruit flavors alongside random pickle-flavored straws. This limited-time offering received positive feedback from consumers, leading to its continued availability within the SOUR PUNCH product line.
Kyle Stout, Senior Product & Innovation Manager, noted, “With the April Fool’s Day success of the Pickle Roulette in 2023, we wanted to create a product that had fans questioning once again if it was real.” He explained that the bacon flavor was designed to be subtle, complemented by a maple flavor to create a balanced taste experience. Kristi Shafer, Vice President of Marketing, added, “Sometimes all it takes is pairing two unlikely flavors that create something special.”
The new maple bacon bites are the first savory product in the SOUR PUNCH lineup, combining sweet maple syrup and savory smoked bacon flavors within the brand’s signature sour coating. The product is also Kosher certified, ensuring it meets dietary standards. No pigs were harmed in the production of these bites.
