Today, DOVE Chocolate, a subsidiary of Mars, announced the launch of the Mom Experience Translator, a new AI-powered tool aimed at assisting mothers planning to re-enter the workforce after a period known as the “Mommy Gap.” This gap often refers to time taken off by mothers to focus on childcare. The Mom Experience Translator is designed to translate the skills acquired through parenting into terms that are relevant and applicable to the job market, aiding mothers in articulating their capabilities to potential employers.
The tool responds to a common challenge: approximately 61% of individuals who take a career break of at least 12 months are women, many of whom face employment biases due to these resume gaps. By providing a means to reinterpret parenting duties as professional skills, DOVE Chocolate seeks to mitigate such biases and support mothers in their transition back into formal employment.
Users of the Mom Experience Translator can input job descriptions and match them with a pre-selected list of parenting skills, which the tool then translates into professional job skills. This feature allows mothers to enhance their resumes and job applications, potentially increasing their appeal to recruiters.
Gabrielle Wesley, Chief Marketing Officer at Mars Wrigley, emphasizes DOVE’s commitment to empowering women, noting that the launch of this tool aligns with the brand’s long-standing effort to inspire and support women. In addition to the tool, DOVE Chocolate will celebrate this initiative by starting a sweepstakes on May 10th, offering ten mothers the chance to win $1,000 each to help with their career-related expenses. Furthermore, DOVE Chocolate will donate $10,000 to a charity dedicated to supporting women re-entering the workforce, reinforcing its commitment to women’s empowerment.
This initiative is part of DOVE’s broader mission to create moments of happiness and encouragement for women, particularly during significant transitional periods such as re-entering the workforce.
