Dyson has unveiled the Airwrap Co-anda2x multi-styler and dryer, a six-in-one device that dries, curls, waves, smooths, and volumizes hair while limiting heat exposure. Central to the new model is the Hyperdymium2 motor, which spins at up to 150,000 rpm and generates twice the air pressure of the previous version. Dyson states that the increased airflow achieves drying speeds comparable to a full-size hair dryer and improves hair wrapping and curl longevity.
The Airwrap Co-anda2x is smaller and lighter than earlier editions and incorporates several sensor-based features. Each attachment contains an RFID chip that prompts the styler to adjust temperature and airflow automatically, though users can further customize settings through the MyDyson app. When the curling barrels are in place, the i.d. curl function runs a four-step sequence—wrap, set, cool, and release—at the press of a button. Additional sensors monitor air temperature 1,000 times per second to prevent heat damage, alert users when the filter needs cleaning, and confirm filter placement.
Dyson offers two attachment sets in the United States. The Straight + Wavy package includes 30- and 40-millimeter curling barrels, an anti-snag loop brush, a round volumizing brush, the AirSmooth2x finishing tool, and a fast-drying attachment. The Curly + Coily option substitutes a tension comb and a Wave + Curl diffuser for different curl patterns. All attachments are designed to handle the higher airflow produced by the new motor, and additional standalone accessories—such as a 20-millimeter curling barrel—are available separately.
The company has linked the new styler to its Chitosan hair-care formulations, which it says help maintain styles created with the Airwrap Co-anda2x. Pricing and retail availability have not been disclosed.
