eBay today rolled out Secure Purchase, a comprehensive service that handles payment, financing, registration, title transfer and shipping in one streamlined process. The feature is designed for buyers and sellers moving vehicles across state lines, where nearly 80 percent of eBay Auto transactions occurred in 2024.

The process begins when both buyer and seller verify their identities and enter basic vehicle details. Buyers can then choose financing, transport, protection and insurance options in a few clicks. Sellers upload title photos, VIN and odometer readings, all verified against national title databases. Once documents are digitally signed, funds move through eBay’s secure platform and registration and title transfer begin automatically.

“Online automotive shopping delivers incredible selection and value but can feel overwhelming,” said Jesse Kiefer, General Manager of Vehicles at eBay. “Secure Purchase removes complexity and gives both parties peace of mind—no DMV visit required.”

Secure Purchase joins programs such as eBay Guaranteed Fit and Tire Installation as part of eBay’s push to enhance every step of the preowned vehicle journey. From finding a daily driver to sourcing rare restoration projects, eBay aims to make buying and selling cars as simple as any other eBay purchase.
