Epson has expanded its EcoTank range with two seventh-generation models aimed at families and home offices that want lower running costs and minimal maintenance. The new ET-3950 and ET-4950 sit alongside the recently released ET-2980 and feature refillable ink tanks that, according to Epson, hold enough ink for up to three years of typical use. Replacement bottle sets correspond to about eighty individual cartridges, which reduces waste and eliminates frequent cartridge changes. Large, keyed EcoFit bottles are designed to prevent mess and ensure that each color is added to the correct tank.

Both new printers use PrecisionCore heat-free technology and permanent printheads that are intended to last for the life of the device. They print at up to eighteen pages per minute in black and nine in color, start without warm-up time, and include automatic duplex printing. A 250-sheet tray and a single-pass auto document feeder support high-volume tasks, while a 2.4-inch color display simplifies basic controls. Connectivity options include USB, Wi-Fi certified Agile Multiband, and Apple AirPrint, and the Epson Smart Panel app lets users print or scan directly from mobile devices. The ET-4950 adds fax capability and a touchscreen interface. The entry-level ET-2980 prints at fifteen pages per minute in black and eight in color and omits the feeder.

Epson reports that more than one hundred million EcoTank units have been sold worldwide and says the latest generation continues the focus on cost efficiency, reliability, and ease of use.
