Flanagan Farm has introduced five new flavors of sauerkraut: Classic, Kimchi, Beet, Dill, and Roasted Garlic. These fermented, probiotic-rich foods are available in 16-ounce resealable pouches found in the refrigerated section. Flanagan Farm positions its sauerkraut as the most affordable fresh organic option on the market.
Currently, the Classic and Kimchi varieties are available at more than 1,800 Walmart locations, priced under $5 per pouch. The Beet flavor will be available at Hannaford Supermarkets starting in October. Additionally, Classic and Kimchi are available for purchase on the Flanagan Farm website.
Chris Glab, Chief Innovation Officer of Flanagan Farm and Fermented Food Holdings, emphasized the nutritional benefits of fermented foods. He noted that despite the rise in interest in gut probiotics, there remains confusion about gut health. Glab highlighted that Flanagan Farm’s sauerkraut offers a natural, whole food alternative to supplements like prebiotic and probiotic pills, providing these benefits in a more accessible form.
Flanagan Farm’s sauerkraut is produced using cabbage grown on an organic, family-owned farm in Wisconsin. After harvesting, the cabbage is transported to a production facility less than 75 miles away in Bear Creek, Wisconsin, where it begins the fermentation process within 24 hours. The company prides itself on this quick turnaround to ensure fresh and flavorful products.
The sauerkraut flavors are designed for versatile use, from topping sandwiches and salads to being enjoyed directly as a probiotic-rich snack. All Flanagan Farm sauerkrauts are non-GMO, kosher, vegan, gluten-free, and free of added sugar and the nine most common allergens.
Jorge Azevedo, Chief Operating Officer of Flanagan Farm and FFH, stated that the brand is now the only refrigerated organic sauerkraut available for under $5 at Walmart. Azevedo highlighted the importance of providing USDA-certified organic superfoods at an accessible price, noting that this combination is rare in the market.
