Google has unveiled its latest smartphones, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, featuring a host of innovative features and improvements. Engineered with AI at their core and powered by Google Tensor G3, these devices promise a more personalized and helpful experience for users.
Design and Display
Both the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro come with elegant designs, featuring softer silhouettes, beautiful metal finishes, and recycled materials. The Pixel 8 has a 6.2-inch Actua display, which is 42% brighter than its predecessor, the Pixel 7. It comes in three colors: Rose, Hazel, and Obsidian. The Pixel 8 Pro features a 6.7-inch Super Actua display and comes in Porcelain, Bay, and Obsidian.
Unique Features
The Pixel 8 Pro introduces a new temperature sensor, allowing users to quickly scan an object to gauge its temperature. This feature is particularly useful for everyday tasks like cooking or checking a baby’s bottle temperature.
Camera Upgrades
Both phones feature significant camera improvements, including better low-light performance and enhanced Macro Focus. The Pixel 8 Pro goes a step further with a telephoto lens that captures 56% more light and offers 10x photos at optical quality. The camera app has also been redesigned to offer a more intuitive user experience.
Software and AI Capabilities
The phones come with innovative software features like Best Take, which uses AI to create the perfect group photo, and Magic Editor in Google Photos, which allows for advanced editing. Audio Magic Eraser can reduce distracting sounds in videos, and the upcoming Video Boost feature will enhance video quality.
Additional Features
The Pixel 8 series introduces Summarize, which can generate a summary of a webpage, and improved AI for Call Screen, reducing spam calls by 50% on average. The phones also come with seven years of software updates, including Android OS upgrades and security updates.

The Pixel 8 starts at $699, while the Pixel 8 Pro starts at $999. Pixel 8 Pro pre-orders come with a complimentary Pixel Watch 2, while the Pixel 8 comes with Pixel Buds Pro. Both phones will be available starting October 12.
