Great American Media, known for producing original movies and series focused on faith and family content, has partnered with North Shore Animal League America, a prominent no-kill animal rescue organization, to announce the third annual “Great American Rescue Bowl.” This two-hour original special is scheduled to air on Super Bowl Sunday, February 9, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. ET, with an encore presentation from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. ET. The event aims to highlight pets that have been rescued and adopted.
The special will be hosted by Beth Stern, an author and animal activist recognized for fostering over 2,000 pets. It will also feature commentators Taylor Kalupa and Masey McClain. Following the live broadcast, the “Great American Rescue Bowl” will be available for streaming on Pure Flix starting February 10.
In response to recent wildfires in California, North Shore Animal League America is collaborating with local shelters to assist affected pets. The organization is reaching out to the owners of microchipped pets currently in shelters. Local shelters have available pets for fostering or adoption, and donations are being solicited to support ongoing care and facilitate the relocation of displaced animals.
Bill Abbott, President and CEO of Great American Media, expressed appreciation for the long-standing collaboration with North Shore Animal League America, emphasizing the importance of their shared mission to find homes for shelter pets. Joanne Yohannan, Senior Vice President of Operations at North Shore Animal League, acknowledged the partnership’s role in raising awareness about animal rescue efforts.
The “Great American Rescue Bowl 2025” will feature numerous stories of successful adoptions, including the placement of senior cats into new homes. The event aims to reflect the dedication of the community towards rescuing animals, addressing the significant issue of pet homelessness, which sees approximately 1.5 million pets euthanized annually. Since 2013, initiatives like the “Kitten Bowl,” now rebranded as the “Great American Rescue Bowl,” have contributed to the adoption of over 100,000 pets through collaboration with AnimalLeague.org and its partners.
