Herman Miller has teamed up with celebrated architect John Pawson to introduce the Pawson Drift Sofa Group, a lounge collection designed for relaxed living. This marks Pawson’s first furniture collaboration with the brand. The series includes two sofa lengths—80 inches and 93 inches—plus a left- or right-side chaise sectional and a matching lounge chair. Each piece features generously proportioned cushions nestled in a geometric solid-wood frame with square edges.
Comfort is enhanced by responsibly sourced down feather jackets inside each cushion. Below, a sturdy frame and fabric suspension system ensure consistent support whether sitting upright, reclining or napping. Customers can specify white oak or walnut for the hardwood frame. The cushion covers come in a wide range of premium textiles and leathers, including three Greenguard Gold Certified fabrics (Rowan, Beck and Isa) for better indoor air quality.
Sustainability guided the design process. Cushions use plant-based latex foam instead of petroleum-derived materials and rest on textile straps over cotton decking. More than 80 percent of the sofa’s components are natural and plant-derived. The hardwood frame is sourced from North American forests managed for regeneration.
Pawson, who founded his own firm in 1981, applies the same minimalist philosophy to this collection that he uses in architecture and interiors. He focuses on proportion, surface and light to create furniture that enhances a space without dominating it. The Pawson Drift Sofa Group is now available through Herman Miller’s network of retailers and showrooms.
