Leica Camera AG has announced the launch of the new Leica D-Lux 8, which will be available starting July 2, 2024. The D-Lux series, first introduced by the German premium manufacturer in 2003, has now reached its eighth generation. Over the years, the D-Lux has become well-established in Leica’s lineup of high-quality digital compact cameras, with numerous special editions released.
The Leica D-Lux 8 aims to offer the quintessential Leica experience in a more compact and accessible form. The design and user experience reflect the renowned excellence of the Leica brand. Enhancements in user comfort have been made by simplifying and ergonomically repositioning the controls. The user interface, inspired by the popular Leica Q-Cameras, has been improved to be more user-friendly.
Key features of the D-Lux 8 include a 4/3″ CMOS sensor with an effective resolution of 17 MP (21 MP total). It is equipped with the fast Leica DC Vario-Summilux 10.9–34 mm f/1.7–2.8 ASPH. lens, which is equivalent to 24-75 mm in 35mm terms. The camera also offers intuitive design and seamless connectivity with the Leica FOTOS app. Additionally, the camera comes with a flash, enhancing its versatility.
Leica will also introduce a new range of accessories for the D-Lux 8. These accessories include a hand grip, carrying straps, wrist straps, and leather protectors in various colors. Other accessories, such as an automatic lens cap, soft release buttons, and a selection of bags including hip bags, crossbody bags, and equipment bags, will also be available.
The Leica D-Lux 8 will be available globally starting July 2, 2024. It will be sold at all Leica Stores, the Leica Online Store, and through authorized dealers. The retail price in the US will be $1,595.
