Leica Camera AG has introduced the Leica D-Lux 8, a new compact camera designed to align with the brand’s philosophy of good design. The camera emphasizes user comfort with its intuitive controls, user interface, and optimized button layout, making it easy to operate.
The Leica D-Lux 8 includes both manual and fully automatic modes, providing flexibility for photographers to capture quick snapshots or carefully composed images. It features a high-resolution touchscreen and a new 2.4-megapixel OLED viewfinder with Live View functionality, enhancing the ability to frame the perfect shot. The camera is equipped with a powerful 4/3″ CMOS sensor with 21 MP (17 MP effective) and a fast Leica DC Vario-Summilux 10.9-34 f/1.7-2.8 4 ASPH. zoom lens, equivalent to 24-75mm in 35mm format. An attachable flash is also included. The D-Lux 8 supports both DNG and JPEG formats and offers optical zoom and 4K video capabilities, making it a versatile choice for various photography needs. Its compact and lightweight design makes it ideal for portability.
The Leica D-Lux 8 integrates seamlessly with the Leica FOTOS app, allowing users to download, edit, and share images directly to a smartphone. The app supports DNG files, video downloads, and remote camera operation, including optical zoom. Camera firmware updates can also be managed through the app.
The camera is complemented by a range of accessories, including leather half cases in black, cognac, and olive, as well as carrying and wrist straps in black, cognac/petrol, and olive/burgundy. Additional accessories include an equipment bag and hip bag in black, an auto lens cap, a handgrip, and screw-on soft release buttons in black, brass, and silver.
The Leica D-Lux 8 is available globally at Leica Stores, the Leica Online Store, and authorized dealers for a retail price of $1,595.
