LG Electronics, a leader in HVAC technology, has introduced a comprehensive range of data center cooling solutions at Data Center World 2025. This event, taking place in Washington, D.C., highlights the growing global demand for data center capacity, projected to increase between 19 and 22 percent annually until 2030. As data centers expand, managing the heat produced by high-performance chips becomes increasingly critical. LG’s new cooling technologies aim to address these challenges by providing reliable and energy-efficient solutions.
Steve Scarbrough, Senior Vice President and General Manager of LG Air Conditioning Technologies, emphasized the importance of cooling solutions in the functionality of data centers. He stated, “Between the data for our phones on the go, our laptops at work, and our smart TVs at home, data centers play a crucial role in our day-to-day lives, and cooling solutions are a critical component for equipment to run as expected.” Scarbrough noted that LG seeks to position itself as a distinctive player in the market, facilitating the specifications and development of future data center projects through its innovative cooling offerings.
At Data Center World 2025, LG’s cooling solutions include several key technologies. The Cold Plate system is designed for high-powered chips, offering enhanced leak protection and customization options based on specific requirements. The Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU) features a compact design that ensures high efficiency and reliability, incorporating LG Virtual Sensor technology for continuous operation and predictive diagnostics. The Computer Room Air Handler (CRAH) provides ease of installation and maintenance, utilizing high-efficiency fans and low static pressure coils to enhance performance.
In addition to these cooling solutions, LG is collaborating with Microsoft to optimize thermal management systems and chiller technologies for AI data centers. This partnership aims to improve energy efficiency in these essential infrastructures, paving the way for the development of next-generation data centers that prioritize sustainability and efficiency. Visitors to LG’s booth at the event can explore these innovations firsthand.
