Lux Row Distillers, located in Bardstown, Kentucky, is introducing a new addition to its Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey lineup with the national launch of Lux Row Small Batch PX Sherry Cask Finish. This product is made from small batches of four-year-old rye straight Kentucky bourbon, which undergoes a finishing process in casks that previously contained PX Sherry for a duration of six months. PX Sherry is known for its rich and sweet profile, derived from grapes that are sun-dried and overly ripened.
The Lux Row Small Batch PX Sherry Cask Finish is bottled at 112 proof, equivalent to 56% alcohol by volume, and will be available across the United States starting in February, with a suggested retail price of $49.99 for a 750mL bottle.
The finishing process in PX Sherry casks is said to impart an aromatic profile that includes notes of dried figs and dates, along with flavors reminiscent of grape syrup and candied fruit. Additional flavor nuances include hints of spice, roasted coffee, and dark chocolate, resulting in a balanced product.
John Rempe, the Master Distiller at Lux Row, noted the intention behind this release was to combine the sweet characteristics of PX Sherry with the spicy notes typical of rye bourbon. This blending aims to create a distinctive flavor profile.
The Lux Row Small Batch PX Sherry Cask Finish was first introduced in October 2024 at the distillery and has since gained popularity among visitors. Eric Winter, the Brand Manager, expressed anticipation for the broader distribution of this product, aiming to reach bourbon enthusiasts seeking unique flavor experiences.
This new release joins Lux Row’s existing range of products, which includes the 12-year Double Barrel and the Lux Row Four Grain Double Single Barrel, both of which have received various accolades in spirit competitions.
