C. F. Martin & Co. has unveiled its 2025 Earth Day guitar, the D Biosphere III, and released its latest Impact Report highlighting environmental and philanthropic progress. Both efforts reflect the company’s ongoing commitment to crafting quality instruments while protecting the planet.
The D Biosphere III is the latest in Martin’s annual Biosphere guitar series. It features original artwork by longtime collaborator Robert Goetzl, depicting a polar bear mother and cub against a backdrop of Arctic sea ice. The guitar is built entirely with FSC-certified woods, including a Sitka spruce top, sapele back and sides, and European flamed maple binding. Martin partnered with Polar Bears International to raise awareness of Arctic conservation and has made a donation in support of their work.
“This year’s guitar is about the connection between mother and child—and the question of whether that cub will have a future,” said Goetzl.
Alongside the new model, Martin also published its 2024 Impact Report. The report outlines progress on environmental and community initiatives, including:
- 93 charitable grants totaling over $500,000
- More than $32,000 in donated instruments
- Reforestation projects in Central America and Pennsylvania
- Over 60 tons of materials recycled across Martin facilities
- The introduction of the Inception model, made with sustainable domestic tonewoods
Martin’s Earth Day efforts are part of a broader sustainability mission that spans decades. From eco-conscious design to charitable partnerships, the company continues to take measurable steps to reduce its impact and support global conservation efforts.
