Mary Dowling Whiskey Company has announced a multi-city book tour to promote its new historical fiction novel, “Mother of Bourbon: The Greatest American Whiskey Story Never Told.” This book, co-authored by Eric Goodman and Kaveh Zamanian, explores the life of Mary Dowling, noted as one of the most influential women distillers in bourbon history. The narrative chronicles her experiences during a significant period in American history, highlighting her challenges and achievements, including overcoming government restrictions and societal norms.
The book tour will commence in Louisville, Kentucky, and includes six events across three cities: Louisville, Chicago, and Detroit. In Louisville, the first event is scheduled for April 9, 2025, at the Frazier History Museum. The tour continues in Chicago with events at Mordecai on April 12 and the Gallery Salon at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel on April 13. The final leg of the tour will take place in Detroit, featuring events at Charlie’s Still on Main, The Ebenezer, and Wright & Company from April 14 to April 17.
Attendees of the tour will have the opportunity to participate in guided tastings of the company’s award-winning whiskey expressions, paired with excerpts from the book. Kaveh Zamanian remarked on the significance of Mary Dowling’s legacy, stating, “Mary Dowling was a pioneer who refused to let anything—Prohibition, expectations or the times she lived in—define her.” The tour aims to celebrate her contributions to the whiskey industry and provide a unique experience for participants. Each guest will receive a gift package that includes a signed advanced copy of “Mother of Bourbon.”
