Michter’s has announced the upcoming release of its 10 Year Kentucky Straight Bourbon, which will be available in stores, bars, and restaurants starting in April. The decision to bottle the bourbon is based on the assessment of the production team rather than adhering to a strict aging schedule. Joseph J. Magliocco, President of Michter’s, noted that this practice aligns with the standards established by the brand’s first Master Distiller, Willie Pratt. The suggested retail price for a 750ml bottle in the United States will be $195.
Master Distiller Dan McKee and Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson regularly evaluate older barrels to determine the optimal maturation for their products. Wilson remarked on the process, stating, “It is such an exciting time when we are reviewing barrels for consideration for this release.” The 10 Year Bourbon is reported to be aged beyond ten years, featuring a complex character and inviting aroma.
With an alcohol content of 94.4 proof, or 47.2% Alc./Vol., McKee described the bourbon as having a remarkable body and character, emphasizing its richness and complexity. This product has garnered significant recognition, as evidenced by its recent accolade from the UK publication Drinks International, which named Michter’s the World’s Most Admired Whiskey for two consecutive years, based on a poll of global whiskey experts.
Michter’s maintains a legacy of producing high-quality American whiskeys, with a portfolio that includes bourbon, rye, sour mash whiskey, and American whiskey, all crafted to reach their peak maturity.
