The Postal Service recently unveiled its latest stamp series, Carnival Nights, at the South Mississippi Summer Fair. This new collection captures the vibrant energy and nostalgic thrill of carnivals at night through a series of striking photographs.
June Martindale, USPS Alabama-Mississippi District manager, emphasized the significance of these stamps, highlighting how they help connect people by capturing the essence of nighttime carnivals. According to Martindale, the dazzling lights and lively atmosphere of carnivals come to life when the sun sets, offering a unique form of entertainment.
Nighttime at carnivals is distinct from daytime experiences. Rides take on new characteristics, with the Ferris wheel providing both thrilling and romantic views and roller coasters offering an exhilarating rush. Additionally, nighttime carnivals feature fireworks, live music, and light shows that entertain visitors into the late hours.
Matt McDonnell, executive director of the Mississippi Coast Coliseum, spoke about the enduring appeal of carnivals at night, noting that they have provided family entertainment for generations. He compared the new stamps to a cherished part of Americana, celebrating the memories made at these events.
Lynda Franc, corporate marketing director for North American Midway Entertainment, expressed excitement about the release, noting that the stamps celebrate the vibrant culture and timeless fun of carnivals.
The Carnival Nights stamp series includes ten stamps featuring photographs of various carnival rides illuminated in neon hues against the night sky. The images showcase a range of attractions, including Ferris wheels, carousels, and amusement booths.
